The lowdown

This is Life Leisure's second Stockport court, an outdoor one on the Stockport Exchange site opposite their Grand Central centre and right by the train station. It opened in 2025, launched on 25 June, and was pitched by the council and Life Leisure as a community addition to the town centre, open to everyone rather than gym members only.

There's one court and it's outdoor, so it's weather-dependent in a way an indoor hall isn't, and a wet evening will scupper it. What it has going for it is location. If you commute through Stockport station you can book a game on the way in or out, and locals get a padel option without joining a private club. Just don't expect a clubhouse buzz or a choice of courts, it's a single outdoor court bolted onto an existing leisure operation.

Booking runs through Playtomic under the Life Leisure Grand Central listing, with no membership needed. The centre's own rate is £30 off-peak and £40 peak, plus £3 to hire a paddle, though a third-party listing quotes a touch higher, so check before you book. Hired rackets are collected from Grand Central reception across the road, and there's two hours free at the NCP serving Grand Central, with charges after that.

The courts

One outdoor court on the Stockport Exchange site. Whether it's covered and whether there's any show court set-up isn't confirmed, and the surface type is unknown. Life Leisure also runs a separate indoor court at its Houldsworth Village site elsewhere in Stockport.

Prices and booking

Life Leisure's own site lists padel at £30 off-peak and £40 peak per hour, with paddle hire at £3. A third-party listing shows a slightly different range of £31.50 to £42 per hour, so check the app before you book. All bookings go through Playtomic under the Life Leisure Grand Central club listing, and racket hire and enquiries go through Grand Central reception across the road.

Do I need a Life Leisure membership to play? No. The court is open to non-members and booked through the Playtomic app.
Is the court indoor or outdoor?Outdoor, so it's weather dependent. Whether there's any cover isn't confirmed.
Where do I collect a hired racket? From Life Leisure Grand Central reception, across the road from the court.
