The lowdown

Padel Parx Wigan opened in July 2025 as Wigan's first padel courts, tucked into The Cotton Works, the old cotton mill site near Wigan Pier that's been turned into flats, a food hall and a rooftop bar. It's run by Roger Lingard and Riki Bennett, who've built the club around a "not a country club, this is your club" line, and they mean it: the site works with Wigan Youth Zone and local schools, and runs a Play it Forward scheme donating court time and kit.

It suits players who want a proper social hit rather than a slick corporate box. There's no indoor option, so it's a fair-weather-plus venue rather than a year-round one, but the setting inside a regenerated mill with a food hall and pub next door makes it a decent night out, not just a court booking. Good for beginners, families and anyone who fancies pairing a game with a pint at Three Mills afterwards.

The courts

Three outdoor courts: two doubles courts with a terracotta playing surface, plus one singles court, which is unusual since most UK padel venues only offer doubles. All three are floodlit for evening play and enclosed in the standard toughened glass and mesh cage. There are no indoor courts, so play is weather dependent.

Prices and booking

Third-party listings put it at roughly £28 to £36 per court per hour, which works out at around £7 to £9 a head for a four-player game. That's not confirmed on the operator's own site, so check the live rate before you book. Booking runs through Playtomic, though the listed page still carries an old Rossendale slug from the operator's group system, so double-check you're selecting the Wigan site before confirming.

Are the courts indoor or outdoor? All three are outdoor. They're floodlit for evening sessions but there's no indoor cover, so play depends on the weather.
Is there a singles court?Yes, one of the three courts is set up for singles play alongside the two doubles courts, which most other padel venues in the region don't offer.
Can beginners book without their own kit?Yes. The venue offers equipment rental and lessons for all levels, and markets itself specifically as welcoming to newcomers.
