The lowdown

Pure Padel was the North West's first fully indoor club, built into a converted warehouse on Dutton Street a few minutes from the AO Arena and Manchester Victoria. Six panoramic courts sit under a high roof, around 9.5 to 10 metres, which matters more than it sounds: that height gives lobs proper room to travel, so rallies play the way they're meant to. This is a padel-first venue, not a couple of courts bolted onto a gym.

The blue turf plays quick and one court is set up as a show court you can watch from the mezzanine, which doubles as the bar where people tend to stay for a drink rather than bolting for the car park. It leans towards club-level and improving players who want reliable, weatherproof courts, but beginners aren't an afterthought, with intro sessions and private coaching running every day of the week.

It's pay-as-you-play through Playtomic with no membership to sign up for, and there's a free gated car park on site if you're driving in. Reckon on roughly £30 to £36 an hour off-peak and £44 to £50 at peak on evenings and weekends, which comes to about £8 to £12.50 each with four of you. Rackets are available to hire for a small fee, so you can turn up empty-handed and still play.

The courts

Six indoor courts, described by the club as panoramic with glass back walls and a roof height of around 9.5 to 10 metres, which matters for padel because it gives proper room for lobs. Courts are laid with blue artificial turf and one is set up as a show court, viewable from the mezzanine.
